Pre/Post Care

Leading up to your Permanent Makeup service, we aim for total and complete satisfaction, so we want to provide you with the following pre-care instructions to ensure optimal results, proper healing and prevent complications.

Pre-Care

    • Discontinue the use of ALL Chemical Exfoliating treatments and products, including but not limited to Retin-A, Retinol, Niacinamide, Benzoyl Peroxide, Kojic Acid, Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA), Azelaic Acid, Lactic Acid, Salicylic Acid, Glycolic Acid, ALL Acne treating products, and products with high contents of Citrus Fruit Acids at least 6 weeks prior.

    • Eyebrow and eyelash growth serums should be discontinued 6 weeks before your appointment if receiving eyebrow or eyeliner services.

    • Botox and filler should be avoided 2 weeks before the procedure.

    • Antibiotics, steroids, and other medications will substantially impact healed results. Clients are asked to avoid these 2 weeks before the appointment.

    • Eyebrow tinting should also be discontinued 2 weeks before.

    • We ask that you avoid sun exposure 1 week before your tattoo appointment

    • Lash extensions must be removed if undergoing a lash enhancement or eyeliner procedure.

    • Contact lenses should be removed if receiving a lash enhancement or eyeliner tattoo.

    • We recommend coming to your brow appointment with eyebrows already groomed to avoid unnecessary skin irritation. NO waxing, tweezing, or threading 3 days before undergoing an eyebrow service.

We ask for lips to be exfoliated, healthy, and moisturized prior to your Lip Blushing/ Watercolor tattoo services. You can use honey, sugar, and coconut oil to create a natural lip exfoliator scrub, followed by a cool rinse and your favorite lip balm or gloss. If there is a history of cold sores you must contact your primary care physician to start a prescription of anti-viral medication. Failure to take the required medication will result in a breakout post-procedure that will substantially impact healed results.

  • Ask your doctor if you can halt the use of ALL NSAIDs, Aspirin, Niacin, or Advil/Ibuprofen 2 days before the procedure. Choosing to take medications such as these prior to your procedure will make your blood thin, which will cause bleeding during your procedure. Blood pushes the pigment out of place and results in poor pigment retention.

    • Discontinue the use of Vitamin E, Fish Oil, Vitamins, and "Hair, Skin, Nail" supplements forty-eight hours prior to your appointment.

    • Blood pressure, thyroid, and other daily medications may greatly impact healed results.

    • DO NOT work out the day before your appointment

    • NO alcohol, or caffeine twenty-four hours before your procedure, please keep in mind that decaffeinated drinks sometimes have small amounts of caffeine, which will affect your procedure. Disregarding this request will cause your blood to be thin and result in poor pigment retention.

    • We require a bare face on the day of your permanent makeup appointment. Your face should be free of ALL makeup.

Post-Care Lips

NOTE: After each appointment, we will provide you with an aftercare kit.

  • With your lip blush complete, we want to prevent a build-up of lymph fluid on your lips. Lymph build-up on the lips looks like yellow/ white bubbles. To prevent overproduction of lymphatic fluid, use a provided damp cotton round and cleanse lips as needed throughout the day. Followed by a small amount of after-care ointment as needed.

    • Use an ice pack to be applied for 10 to 15 minutes each hour for the first 2-3 hours following the procedure if your lips feel swollen. The ice is used to reduce swelling and provide comfort. Also, be sure it is wrapped in something clean.

    • For the first two days, use a straw when drinking liquids; avoid sandwiches, biting into fruit especially citrus fruits which could be painful, or food that might cause friction to the lips. Spicy foods might also irritate the lips or be painful during the healing process.

    • Smoking is discouraged for optimal results.

NOTE: When brushing teeth for the first three days, coat lips with a lot of ointment before brushing and use a minimal amount of toothpaste.

    • Your lips should have a thin film on top of them by now and will be feeling pretty tight and possibly sore, this is normal and will not last long.

    • The film indicates that the skin underneath is healing. At this point, you no longer need to clean your lips unless you want to wipe them after eating and drinking. However, keeping your lips moisturized using the after-care ointment is still necessary.

  • Your lips may stay dry for a few weeks, but keeping them moisturized will reduce the feeling of them being tight, chapped, cracked, or itchy.

Although your lips may feel healed, lipsticks tend to dry your lips out, so if you must wear something on them, a tinted or clear gloss would be the better option. It’s not uncommon to have a ‘ second peel’ with lips, so just keep your lips hydrated. Your lips will appear lighter than when initially done this is normal, you have healing skin over your lips, which is thicker than normal skin. and color should start to blossom around week 4. Once your healing skin has settled, you can return to your everyday skincare and makeup routine. Although the skin will be healed on the surface, it is not healed underneath and will require you to still be gentle on and around the enhanced area for the full 6 weeks. Do not exfoliate or use any harsh products that may cause damage to your regenerating skin.

    • Touching, biting, or scratching your lips could cause irritation, infection & loss of pigment.

    • Lip liner, lipstick, lip gloss, cleansers, lotions, etc. on or close to your lips for 2 weeks to avoid irritation & cross-contamination.

    • Exercising for at least 7 days, gentle exercise is ok after the first few days.

    • Sauna’s, Bath, Jacuzzi, steam rooms, swimming( chlorine, salt water), and recreational bodies of water for at least 1 week due to sweating and risk of getting your lips wet and hygiene.

    • Anti-aging creams, chemical peels, acids, or Retin-A, retinols on or close to your lips ever! These products will alter your skin and impact pigment retention.

    • Lip fillers, direct sunlight, chemical peels, Sun tanning, or salon tanning for at least 4 weeks, as the skin will not be healed enough.

    1. Keep your enhanced area as clean and dry as possible, but still moisturized for the first 2 weeks. We want film NOT scabs. Too much lymphatic fluid, water, sweat, and oil will result in scabs instead of film.

    2. Ibuprofen is recommended if your lips feel swollen or bruised or an ice pack( wrapped in something clean).

    3. Follow the post-care properly to allow your lips to heal as well as they should.

    4. Use a straw while drinking and avoid salty or spicy food if your lips feel tender for the first few days.

    5. Use only the provided aftercare ointment, unless it

Post-Care Brows

For the best-healed results, remaining consistent, intentional, and aware of these post-care instructions will result in beautifully striking results once the healing process is complete.

    • Open the provided packet of damp cotton rounds and wipe the brow area once every hour for 6 hours. Allow brows to briefly dry and apply the aftercare ointment after wiping the brow area. After the 6 hours have passed, continue to observe the brow area, wipe, and reapply ointment a small amount of after-care ointment with clean fingers as needed. Before bed wipe the brow area, allow the area to air dry and reapply the post-care ointment.

    • Oily and ethnic skin types will NEED to wipe throughout the day, as your natural oils will keep your brows moist.

    • Following these steps immediately after your appointment is extremely important. It will help to remove the hardening lymphatic fluids that produce thick scabs.

    • Thick scabs = poor pigment retention.

  • In the morning, during the day, and before bed wipe the brow area. Allow the area to air dry and reapply the aftercare ointment.

  • Your brows have developed a protective film, and it’s important to protect it. DO NOT GET YOUR BROWS WET/ SPLASH WATER ON YOUR FACE . Apply a minimal amount of aftercare ointment with a cotton swab and spread it across the treated area twice a day.

NOTE: never over-hydrate the brows by making them visibly shiny. The purpose of ointment is to add a small amount of moisture.

    • Dry skin types may need to apply more ointment.

    • Oily skin Types, ointment may not be needed if your natural oil keeps your brows moist. Still, keep your brows clean by gently dabbing the brows clean daily with oil sheets.

  • Wash twice daily by patting a small amount of diluted gentle cleanser into the eyebrow area with your ring finger, gently remove the soap with the pads of your fingers, followed by a cool rinse.

DO NOT use any cleansing products containing acids (glycolic, lactic, or AHA)or exfoliants. Always allow brows to air dry before applying ointment. Continue to apply ointment until the last scabs have exfoliated.

Trust the process DO NOT pick, peel, or rub scabs off your brows. It may cause your enhancement to heal unevenly, causing irritation or possible infection.

    IMPORTANT: Face washing and showering

Limit your shower time limits so that you do not create too much steam. Keep your face/procedure area out of the water while you wash your body, then, at the end of your shower, wash your hair facing away from the water. Avoid excessive rinsing and hot water on the treated area. Day 2-14 do not splash water on the face area when washing and keep products far away from the brow area. Face wash should be removed with a gentle facial cloth, but never touching the brow area.

Following and being consistent with good aftercare will result in beautiful healed brows.

    • Touching, picking, peeling, or scratching your brows as this could cause irritation, infection & loss of pigment.
Exercising/gym activities that cause sweating for at least 7 days

    • Sauna’s, Bath, Jacuzzi, steam rooms, swimming( chlorine, salt water), and recreational bodies of water for at least 1 week due to sweating and risk of getting brows wet.

    • Performing tasks related to heavy household cleaning, such as garage or basement cleaning where there is a lot of airborne debris – now is not the time.

    • Do not use any cleansers or facial products of any kind, over the brow area for at least 14 days.

    • Brow products, makeup, cleansers, lotions, and sunscreen on the brows for 2 weeks.

    • Direct sunlight, Sun tanning, or salon tanning for at least 4 weeks to avoid irritation and cross-contamination. wear a hat when outside.

    • Don’t undergo any skincare beauty treatments, such as laser treatments, facials, chemical treatments, or peels, for at least 4 weeks after the application of your enhancement.

    • Anti-aging creams, chemical peels, acids, or Retin-A on or close to your brows ever! These products will alter your skin and impact pigment retention.

    • Avoid eyebrow grooming for 2 weeks minimum.

    1. Keep your enhanced area as clean and dry as possible, but still moisturized for the first 2 weeks. We want film NOT scabs. Too much lymphatic fluid, water, sweat, and oil will result in scabs instead of film.

    2. Ibuprofen is recommended if your brows feel swollen.

    scabs = poor pigment retention.

Post-Care Eyeliner

NOTE: After each appointment, we will provide you with an aftercare kit.

  • For the best-healed results, remaining consistent, intentional, and aware of these post-care instructions will result in beautifully striking results once the healing process is complete.
Immediately after post-procedure until end of day two

After your enhancement is complete, we want to prevent a build-up of lymph fluid to stop a thick scab from forming. For the first day keep an eye on your eyeliner and ensure it isn’t looking ‘juicy’ with lymphatic production. Use a provided damp cotton round to absorb lymph every hour. Before bed, cleanse your eyes with a damp cotton round, blot dry, and leave alone.

  • Your eyes will be starting to feel tighter now. For the next few days, we are still trying to prevent a scab from forming. Gently wipe your eyeliner with a damp cotton round once in the morning, once in the afternoon, and then once more before bed, and allow it to air dry.

  • Your eyes may continue to feel tight or dry. Continue gently cleaning the area with a damp cotton round once in the morning, in the afternoon, and once more before bed, allowing it to air dry. Only apply a half grain of rice-sized amount of after-care ointment IF YOU FEEL IT IS NEEDED, so it is slightly moisturized NOT GREASY. The ointment will help to minimize flaking and itchiness and also help heal the skin.

  • Your eyeliner may look lighter than when freshly done. Do not panic – you have healing skin over your eyeliner, which is thicker than normal skin. You should see some color blossom around week 4 once your healing skin has settled. You can return to your usual face washing/makeup routine, but you still need to be careful with your eye area. Although your skin will look healed, it is still recovering under the surface, and you need to be gentle for the full 6 weeks. Your skin will be fragile and may still be a bit tender, so don't exfoliate or use anything harsh that may damage your regenerating skin.

Most people do not require a touch-up, but if you feel you would benefit from an additional session, feel free to book a touch-up appointment.

    • Touching, picking, or scratching your eyeliner could cause irritation, infection & loss of pigment.

    • Exercising/gym activities that cause sweating for at least 7 days, gentle exercise is ok after the first few days.

    • Sauna’s, Bath, Jacuzzi, steam rooms, swimming( chlorine, salt water), and recreational bodies of water for at least 1 week due to sweating and risk of getting eyeliner wet.

    • Makeup, mascara, lotions, etc. on or close to your eyeliner for 2 weeks to avoid irritation & cross-contamination.

    • Exercising/gym activities that cause sweating for at least 1 week, due to sweating and getting your eyes wet.

    • Don’t undergo ANY skincare beauty treatments, such as laser treatments, facials, chemical treatments, or peels, for at least 4 weeks after the application of your enhancement.

    • Direct sunlight, Sun tanning, or salon tanning for at least 4 weeks to avoid irritation and cross-contamination.

    • Anti-aging creams, chemical peels, acids, or Retin-A on or close to your eyes ever! These products will alter your skin and impact pigment retention.

    1. Keep your enhanced area as clean and dry as possible, but still moisturized for the first 2 weeks. We want film NOT scabs. Too much lymphatic fluid, water, sweat, and oil will result in scabs instead of film.

    2. Ibuprofen is recommended if your eyeliner feels swollen or bruised or an ice pack.

    scabs = poor pigment retention.
